The old flour mill, dating from
Arab times, enjoys a quiet, peaceful location in the "Lagoon
of El Padul", forming part of the Natural Park of Sierra
Nevada. In the proximity of this picturesque setting, one can
visit the "Fuente del Mal Nombre" (literally- Bad-name
spring) and the ibero-roman carriageway. One can take advantage
of the excellent views of Sierra Nevada mountain range from
this protected location, this being on of the few swamp-marsh
areas in the province of Granada, eventough it is only 2 km
from the centre of El Padul and 20 km from Granada. This beautiful
and enchanting "Cortijo" of some 4,000m contains many
different species of fruit trees, such as centenary walnut,
fig, membrillo, pear, cherry...
The building conserves
the original materials such as the Arab ceramic, roof tiles,
limewashed stone walls, terracotta floor tiles and some of the
furniture which originally occupied these cosy, comfortable
spaces.
As far as the Mill
itself is concerned, this has also been recently restored, conserving
the original mill machinery in perfect working order. The inclusion
of a small ethnographic museum adds to the interest.

The property has a
garden of some 600m with swimming-pool of 6x3 m. It is worth emphasising
the fact that this "Cortijo" is blessed with significant
sources of natural spring water.
A small river, with
ducks and fishes, crosses the site leading to a small lake, natural
springs and fountains, all of these accompanied by Andalusian
garden vegetation, geraniums and other flowers and plants intrinsic
to the typical beauty of gardens in this part of the world.
